Project Title:	Writing Business Plan

A. Brief Description of Project
The aim of the project was basically to immerse ourselves in the corporate world & come up with a business plan at the end of the day. So, day in day out, both of us entered the corporate office in the morning, researched till evening, then went home around five. While we have been writing reports in school, coming up with a business plan for this attachment is a whole new thing. It demands a whole lot of substantiated research from reliable sources & takes up a lot of time. In actual fact, four weeks is not sufficient time to come up with a business report comparable to the ones professionals come up with. Hence, ours was a much simpler version, attempting to cover most of the aspects needed to write a business plan, for example, corporate profile, research on product & market research.

Oh, and the corporate world isn’t much fun if you think about it.

B. Results
Initially, we were supposed to research on the local market but after much negotiation with the President, we ended up working on the China market instead. This is due to the fact that the company intends to release an updated version of an existing product to the market there. Our mentor wanted us to do a business plan for the local market because he intended us to do a survey here, given the experience of doing a survey as part of our school assignment for Maths lessons before. However, the President felt that since that particular sector of the company has been dealing a lot with the China market, it would be easier for us to do it on China instead, since they would have the information for us to create the business plan. The downside would be that we would be unable to do a survey there, which technically made our lives much easier!

So, we came up with a business plan that would make normal people like us sleep but professionals like them sit up straight! We did a lot of comparisons with products from other brands. If only it's possible to upload it here, then you would be able to see how much effort we put in to actually come up with it!

C. Reflection

Three content knowledge/skills that we have learnt

1. We learnt how to research A LOT & sieve out redundant information & summarise a whole long page of information.
2. We learnt how to write a business plan with much reference to websites!
3. We learnt how to rephrase information, communicate with others to gain information that we don’t really have access to & basically, be smart when trying to find out information.

Two interesting aspects about our learning

1. That people of a higher status need not necessarily be stuck-up & hostile! (the President is really nice)

One take-away for life

1. That office work, especially in the corporate office, is a strict NO-NO for both of us: we felt that sitting down in the office for long periods is pure torture, strict dress code is a bit stifling, & the fact that no handphones are allowed in the building equals a prison sentence. Oh, and I forgot to add that they don’t give you access cards; hence, you’re basically cooped up in your cubicle with no means of communication with the outside world. (:
